Turn Your Data Into Engaging Insights In 5 Easy Steps

16 November 2017 | by Eleanor Kendrick-Jones

Data is everywhere, you can’t avoid it, nor should you! You need to understand it. Master the art of analysing data and you’ll be on the road to establishing a winning lead generation campaign.

Follow the 5 simple steps below, and you’ll be creating engaging insights in no time.

1. Understand and analyse data

Gathering the data is one thing, knowing what to do with it is something else. The first step to creating meaningful insights is to understand the data you have. What’s the purpose of the data? Why did you gather it? These are key questions you need to answer in order to fully decipher your findings.

Once you know where the data has come from and what it was gathered for, then you can start to analyse it. Analysing data is crucial to discovering useful information, drawing educated conclusions and, ultimately, supporting any insights you construct.

2. Pull out the key trends

You understand the data, you’ve analysed it, now you’ve got to make people interested in it. This is where key trends come in handy. They’re broader than insights; a trend looks at the numbers, whose doing what? These are essential to understanding the implications of the data, and making it more digestible.

3. Break down the trends into key insights

Key insights, aka, what do your key trends mean. Why are people doing what they’re doing? These nuggets of information are the most important conclusions to draw from your data, as these are what you’ll be putting out to the world. They’ll entice people in, so they have to be interesting, insightful and relevant to your audience.

4. Share key insights by creating engaging content (don’t forget the CTAs)

This is where engaging content is key. You need to get people excited about reading, understanding and using your insights. A block of text isn’t going to excite anyone, so you need to get creative. Think about who you want to consume your insights, what is their job role, what are their pain points and why are they reading your insights. Once you know this, target your content presentation around them. Don’t forget to include powerful Calls to Action (CTAs) to engage your readers further and show them more of you amazing content.

5. Generate leads

You’ve done it, people are reading your insights. They’re interested in them, they’re responding to them! The end is in sight, but don’t stop now. You need to convert these people into leads. Those CTAs you put on your engaging content should be converting a good percentage of readers into potential leads. Don’t let them get away. Communicate with them though emails and social media. Keep them interested in what you have to offer.

Business has gone digital, and data is a huge part of this. The true potential of your data lies in your ability to analyse it. Understand data and you’ll understand what works and what doesn’t. Use the data correctly and you’ll excite and delight your customers!
